What a Result!
Back in October ...

February in Uganda is always memorable for being the hottest time of the year, the start of the new academic year and it is O' level 'results time'  for the exams sat last October. 164 WTA students took part and they all receive their own result by text.. or by calling in to school on the day they are released. And this year, it's especially good news.

In a nutshell, there has been an overall improvement in all subjects - more passes, more credits, more distinctions. WTA results are markedly above the Ugandan national average, which is also significant.

For Headteacher Benard, these results are particularly worth celebrating, as this S4 was the class that started as S1s when he became Head in 2018; he has always had such high hopes for them. When the same group missed almost two years of school due to Covid lockdowns in Uganda, there was real concern about their performance. Could they make it in October, having only restarted school in January? There was no access to online learning, no coursework to offer, no teacher marking and no leniency from the exam board. However, both students and teachers went way beyond the extra mile and even worked at night, at weekends and through most of the holidays. So these results are all the more remarkable.

WTA held a fantastic, celebratory teachers' lunch at the weekend to recognise this significant milestone for the school and to acknowledge the successes of particular departments. Great job, everybody!
